Out with a whimper

So the final episode of season one is here. The final showdown between The Master and Buffy is at hand. As you know I’ve had problems with the Master since the get-go and as the season has moved along, he has just gotten worse. Crying when one of his vampires died and killing off three vampires that forced Buffy and Angel to run for their lives are just two of the main offensive that he has made. Now comes the showdown, and I was hoping for him to grow a pair and actually put up a good fight. Boy was I wrong.
Well the episode begins with Xander practicing asking out Buffy when a earthquake hits. A little later Buffy tells Giles that she is done being a Slayer, because she just wants to be normal and doesn’t want to die (a running theme that is getting really old, really fast). More people end up dead, the AV Club, and it turns out that the Hellmouth is below the school. Buffy gets bit by the Master and falls into a puddle, where she drowns, or almost drowns. Xander gives her mouth-to-mouth and revives her. They go to the school and Buffy takes on the Master. The fight is about a half a minute and the Master is throw off the roof and into the library on a broken piece of wood, where he dies, leaving only a skeleton. The next day they are back at the Bronze. Episode over.
What the hell! The Master again shows how much of a bitch he is. It was no fight, and not because Buffy was fighting all that well, but because the Master really did nothing and just kinda stood there and took it. Lame villain that is supposed to be so tough, that didn’t even try to fight, and that is something that is unforgivable.Have You Read...?
