More info on Giles…sweet!
* * *
In the world that is known as Buffy, this episode begins with a man showing up at the school late at night and looking for Giles. After he finds out where Giles is, a “zombie” woman attacks him. While this is going on Buffy is “aerobicizing” to loud music, so Giles can’t hear the man banging on the door. After the woman kills him, she melts into a pool of strange liquid. We then jump to a bad dream that Giles is having, he wakes up and we switch to Willow and Buffy talking about where they would rather be. As the episode moves on, more of Giles’ old friends are dying and he is starting to move away from Buffy and friends. What could be going on?
The more I learn about Giles, the more I love the guy and this being a Giles strong episode, it makes it one of my favorites. To me, Giles is one of those characters where you know he was a badass before he went good and you always want to know more about their past. Beside the run-in with Ethan in the Halloween episode, this is the first time where we really learn about his past. Not a ton is revealed, but definitely enough to make me want to know more.
Other than the whole Giles angle, it’s a pretty standard episode. It has its ups and downs, but overall it’s one of my favorites. The use of this Mark of Eyghon thing is pretty cool and having people get possessed is almost always fun. As I’ve stated in past reviews, I really want to know more about the character’s pasts and this one delivers.Have You Read...?
