Requests

Is there a movie you’d like us to review? Then post a comment on this page and tell us about it! We can’t guarantee that we’ll get to everything in a timely manner, but we’ll do our best. Feel free to mention if you’d like a specific reviewer to write up the movie, or if you’d like the movie to be covered in our monthly podcast.

Christine, based on Stephen King’s novel of the same name

FYI regarding a couple of requests I’ve received over the past couple of weeks: The Raven (Ulli Lommel 2006) and Arsenic and Old Lace will both run in February.

Several years back, a Lovecraft news group took a vote. They decided that the top three most Lovecraftian movies ever made were all John Carpenter films: Prince of Darkness, The Thing, In the Mouth of Madness. Worth watching if you missed them, worth watching again if you didn’t.

The more recent CoC by HPLHS is also pretty nifty.

Carpenter’s “Apocalypse Trilogy”…good times. The Thing is actually my favorite Carpenter horror movie (my overall favorite Carpenter movie is Escape from New York). A couple of weeks ago I had the opportunity to tell Drudgie to review Prince of Darkness, but I told him to do Phenomena instead.

I think I saw the HPLHS Call a few years ago; you can probably guess who showed it to me. It’s an interesting experiment, I’ll give it that.

And of course we’re doing The Resurrected next week.

I’m in Lovecraft country at the moment, puts me in the mood for slimy monsters. ;-)

I’m still waiting for Whisperer. If those guys pulled off CoC with that level of faithfulness …. well, I do loves me some Mi-go.

The current plan is to split Carpenter’s Apocalypse Trilogy between the three of us and do it in about a month or so.

I’m a bit twitchy about doing Call—I liked it well enough but I’m not too familiar with silent film and am afraid I’d fall back on a “This is good because it’s faithful to the story” type argument. In the end, though, we can always give pass it off to the Drudgeon and threaten to poke him with a stick if he doesn’t watch it.

Razor Blade Smile will run next week, and I’m planning Blood Moon, The Call of Cthulhu and Santa Sangre for the next few weeks. We’re also planning the Evil Dead Trap pair…got the original, trying to find the sequel.

  5. John Bruni says:

I’d love to see Drudgie take on Stephen King’s MAXIMUM OVERDRIVE.

There is a sick, twisted part of me that would be interested in seeing Lackey take on Lars von Trier’s THE KINGDOM on an episode by episode basis, and then having Drudgie do the same thing with KINGDOM HOSPITAL.

I was actually thinking about doing The Kingdom later on in the year after Fear Itself wraps up.

If I keep up my current pace (and I continue to do miniseries inbetween full seasons; the current idea is to do the British zombie series Dead Set in late July after S2 of Masters of Horror and a Stephen King miniseries–most likely The Stand–after Fear Itself) then I can probably start The Hospital first or second week of November.

Id love to hear all your takes’ on Hobo With a Shotgun… The mixed feelings about it across the board are great.. I wont say my opinion, but its worth a watch no matter your feelings on it lol

  8. Kwik says:

Grotesque… thats the name of the movie, it was banned in the UK for being excessively disturbing and gross… was one for the books lol

  9. Vicki says:

Kevin Smith recently did a horror flick called Red State. I’d like to see if any of you like it. Maybe a podcast topic to get everyone’s comments?
    Thanks!
